Deprived Investor about to become the Vacationing Investor

May 24, 2007 · 4 Comments

As of Tuesday I will be out of the country on vacation. Not exactly a frugal vacation and I do plan on spending some money there, but keeping it to a reasonable amount.

I’ll be spending roughly 7 nights in Italy and 2 nights in France. My wife is a part-time college professor and is taking students there to study architecture. She gets to go free and I was able to swing a 50% discount. This is one of those things I don’t mind spending money on. It’s really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most people.

We went three years ago to Italy and Switzerland, so I couldn’t say no to another visit to Italy. What a beautiful place!

See you around June 11th!

Surveys paid off

May 16, 2007 · 1 Comment

Well, I’ve been taking some surveys online (mostly through Lightspeed) and they have paid off $20 in the last month or two. Not much, I know, but that’s $20 I put into my ING Direct Savings account.

My 401-k is growing too and doing well. I have personally put $120 into it since I opened it, with the company matching my $120. It has gained about $8 as well, so it’s doing well. My Roth isn’t doing too bad, but I haven’t been able to add much to it. I’ll try and do better there soon.
